Message from the Chair

I wish the best to all of you and your families during the upcoming Holiday Season.

The LCDP had a busy and by and large successful year and my thanks go out to all of you for your hard work.

Special thanks and recognition should go to our outgoing Executive Board members: Treasurer Rolan Covert, and board members Vicki Burke and Mike Koziara. Rolan was instrumental in the fundraising success the LCDP had this fall and was also responsible for moving the electronic newsletter to Constant Contact.

Vicki, as always, was tireless in her work on the campaigns this fall and was excellent in organizing events.

Mike is also vice-President of the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO and was invaluable in his work with Labor.

I have enjoyed meeting many of you over the fall election season and hope to see many of you at the Holiday Party next week as well as at events in the new year.

In 2007, we plan on having general party meetings and other events throughout the county, and not just in the City of La Crosse. As noted before, the goal over the next two years is to make La Crosse County "blue": from the Presidential election right down through the courthouse offices. It would be a great accomplishment to be able to say in November of 2008 that La Crosse County and the Coulee Region is no longer considered a swing area, but rather a Democratic stronghold. Much work lies ahead before that goal can become a reality -- however, it is a very attainable goal. I trust we are all ready for the task ahead.

Again, best wishes this Holiday season.

Fabio Burgos, Chair
La Crosse County Democratic Party

Reminder regarding Memberships

There are new membership rates, effective October 1, as established by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin: Students, Senior Citizens: $10.00 General: $25.00 Pairs (two memberships): $35.00 Activist (up to three): $45.00 Family(includes all family members: $75.00 Supporter: $120.00 Friend: $240.00 Patron: $600.00 Investor: $1200.00 Benefactor $2400.00 At this point, half of the above membership dues go to the State party, with the exception of the Family membership, where $45.00 of $75.00 goes to the local party. Those who join at the higher levels of membership ($120.00 and above) should remember that only $50.00 of those memberships will stay with the local party.

If your intention is to become a new member or renew your membership with the Democratic Party and you want more of your contribution to go to the Local County Party, I encourage you to join at the single $25 or $75 Family membership level and make additional contributions to the county party directly.

To illustrate, when you join at the Democratic Party at the Friends $240 level, the State Party receives $190 and the local County Party receives $50 At the $120 Supporting Membership level the State Party receives $70 and the Local County Party receives only $50
